About Me

Hi, I’m Charlotte, the ‘Distressed Housewife’.  I’m a forty-three year old wife and mother of three boisterous boys aged fourteen, eleven and nine years.  I started blogging as catharsis from being a stay-at-home mum, after taking a break from my career as a secondary English teacher.  I’m now back to teaching full-time but still feel the urge to blog from time to time, in between teaching, planning, marking, reading, running and drinking wine.

I’m more of a ‘Slummy Mummy’ than a ‘Stepford Wife’; I’m not naturally gifted in all things domestic and find the juggling act of kids, husband and work sometimes stressful but often amusing, which is why I first created this blog.

If you like what you read you can automatically receive every post by subscribing in the sidebar on the main page.  Alternatively, you can follow me on Twitter @distressedhwife to read about even more of my shortcomings.

Thanks for reading; I really hope my blog makes you smile and brightens your day or gives you something to relate to.  If it does, please leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you 🙂

  2. Hi Charlotte,
This is a nice surprise. I’m really looking forward to reading your blogs. After many a conversations together I realise we have so much in common and its nice to know your not on your with your daily struggles.

Lets start with today, already been up at 4.30 to feed baby, then no.2 child awoke at 6.30, no.1 chlid woke at 7. None of us dressed, but at least the washing machine is on. Well it has to be seen as I am on day 7 of cleaning up sickness and diarrhoea. My house must STINK!!!

On the bright side I’m going to make the most of being at home with my 3 monkeys because by the end of April I should be back working. HOW on earth am I going to juggle 3 kids, housework and fulltime work then????

Your blog is going to keep me sane and I look forward to reading more. Good luck on this little venture Charlotte xxxx
